  • Mountaineering competition to take place in the Pamirs
    An international mountaineering competition takes place in the Pamirs July and has attracted teams from a number of countries including Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Belorussia, France, Croatia and Iran. The event starts on 3 July and ends on 22 July 2012 in the mountains of Zamin-Karor in Tajikistan and will involve pairs of mountaineers who will participate in competitions that take place in two stages. The first stage or school is a qualifying competition. Climbers have to scale short rock routes 100-150 metres long and demonstrate climbing technique.   • Balkan triangle to be site of international mountaineering meet
    Climbing in the Dinaric Alps is a magical experience: Arben Lila The Kosovo Mountaineering and Alpinists Federation (KMAF) in cooperation with regional partners is organizing an International Expedition in the border triangle of Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania (Southeastern Europe) that includes an ascent of Maja Jezerc (2694 metres), the highest peak in the Dinaric Alps.   • Grivel to become sponsor of the UIAA
    Grivel, one of the worlds leading mountaineering equipment manufacturers, has become one of the sponsors of the UIAA (International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation). Grivel and UIAA have the same environmental and ethical goals, said Grivel's owner Gioachino Gobbi about the sponsorship deal that was signed in March.   • Participation in Arco International Open for RockMaster 2012

    Registration to Arco International Open is open to all athletes with a valid international license

    All athletes with a valid international license, with the exception of those who are automatically eligible for the RockMaster, will be allowed to participate in the International Open, which will take place on August 30-31, just before the RockMaster. For this event, no national quota is set and the deadline for registration is August 15.

  • Clarification on Mokpo LWC 2012

    Mokpo LWC to replace Dresden LWC

    Despite the inclusion of Mokpo Lead World Cup in the IFSC Calendar of Events 2012, the total number of Lead WCs will not change. Mokpo LWC - originally proposed as WC by the Organizers, then accepted as master and finally changed into a WC - in fact will replace Dresden LWC, whose cancellation was announced last March.
